And now: Applause.

This Project signifies a personal journey through a situation. It touches on the idea of reality making and the difficulties of of finding a common ground of perception in messy situations with those around us. The Project consist of three parts: two acrylic paintings on Canvas and a conceptual work in the shape of a Script titled “I may just be getting over you”.

It was Part of The Exhibition “This Exhibition isn’t happening” at Kunstnerns Hus in 2025.

About the Project

At The Threshold

The theatre-curtain hangs at the threshold between two realities. Here performance and observer meet, one perceived as “real” , the other as “fabricated”. This point of the two realities meeting is defined by the very specific nature of the curtain. When it closes, it encompasses a little pocket dimension between its heavy fabric and the made-up backdrop at the very end of the stage. When it opens, we get to catch a glimpse of a thing one step removed from our existence.

Acrylic paint on canvas. 100cm x 80 cm.

In a very simple way, the curtain is a fabricator. It symbolises the meeting point of realities and their potential overlap. It symbolises the idea of mirroring, the boundary, the non-ability to know. It fabricates a thing that different to your thing. And the specific way the curtain fabricates its reality informs what is possible and not possible. It is the curtain, who defines the rules. Our realities are not allowed to mingle. We can only sit and watch. In this space the impossible can begin to exist.

Doubeling

“I may just be getting over you” is a conceptual theatre play, which was never intended to be performed. It is a play which exists for the purpose of the process and the symbolic nature of its inability to be performed.

The play deals with the idea of things unsaid in the past and how openly reflecting on a situation even after the fact is still filled with self-censoring and embarrassment. It is a personal and process-based project.

The text used to be there. All the things have been said, they existed. The theatre play with metaphorical-dense impossible stage directions existed in some way at some point. The notes of performance and the editing have been down. But the details have been crossed out.. Heavy, black lines hindering all the facts that make up the real life situation. The Play becomes a symbol. A representation of communication.
